1 Down! 6 to go!

2 years ago we moved into this old Victorian farmhouse. As you can see from these pics it was completely trashed (literally, trash was everywhere) when we bought it. So we've been working on it one part and one room at a time. We are pretty much done with the downstairs except for the Huge project of the kitchen which is going to happen this summer (yippee!!!). Anyway, so we are working on the upstairs right now, one room at a time. Yesterday we officially finished the master bedroom!! We did everything ourselves except lay the carpet. This is what it looked like before we moved in! Lots and lots of junk! So, someone who lived in this house once upon a time took a wall out so this room was an open room upstairs. We needed the bedroom back so we put the wall back. That's part of the reason why the pics look like totally different rooms. The next two pics are of the same part of the room.
New carpet!
And here's the opposite side of the room before we move in.
And here it is after remodeling. Pete did an awesome job building this closet!
We had a love-hate relationship with this window for a long time! It's hard to tell in this pic, but the trim around this window is not done and the wood that is there is 3 different colors. And whoever installed this window didn't do it symmetrically! Talk about your nightmare trim job! That's probably why it was never finished. But by not finishing they left nice holes for lots of ladybugs and spiders to come in and keep warm in the winter! Pete did a great job trimming it and then he caulked and then I caulked more! So there better not be anymore ladybugs crawling on my pillow when I go to bed!
So that's 1 more room down, 6 more to go! Next is the girls room! Then the upstairs bathroom!

Lunar Eclipse

In my family while we were growing up, whenever there was a Lunar Eclipse that was happening at a decent time we would go up to the Mts. to see it! As kids we thought this was tons of fun! I thought of those times last night while I was watching this lunar eclipse in our yard. I managed to get two good pics. Then I called my mom to see if she was watching it too, and she said it was raining of all things! We had a perfectly clear night in the NW while it was raining in CA! So I'm posting these pics so my family can enjoy the lunar eclipse too!

Happy Valentines!

Pete had to work this Valentines day, so instead of going to the ward dance I took the kids roller skating for the first time! I think the kids had fun! Zach fell down about a million times, even when he was holding onto somthing, but he kept on laughing and getting up. At first Elora wouldn't even put her skates on, but after they played the chicken dance she wanted to go out there too. Elora didn't fall down once, but she clung to the stroller the whole time and she was really upset when we had to stop so the big kids could do races. Danika just loved all the lights, she didn't whine once to get out of the stroller the whole 2 hours we were there. So I think we had a pretty good Valentines day.

Snow! Finally!

I know! You kids in Utah are going to laugh at this post! But, yeah! We finally got some good snowman making snow!! The last 2 weeks we've had snow off and on, but while all the cities around us were getting the good kind of snow, we were getting slush! So annoying! So, we woke up to about an inch of snow with it still falling (it's 3 o'colck now and we have at least 2 inches if not a little more, and it's still snowing heavily!). The funniest part is that through the course of the day I've come to find out and see for myself that it's Not snowing in any of the cities around us! It seems to be just raining everywhere else! Sooo funny! In case your wondering why this is so exciting for us, it's because it only usually snows snowman snow once or twice a year here. So we take full advantage of it!

Here's Elora and Danika watching the snow.
Danika's first time playing in the snow! She actually liked it and didn't whine once about her purple hands! Amazing!
Elora having fun in the snow until she started whining about her hands! (if she would stop lossing her snow gloves everytime it snows it wouldn't be a problem!)
Zach really got into making snowmen this year! He rolled about 5 or 6 big snowballs! And then stomped on half of them, or threw them at dad!
Zach and I made these snowmen! The one on the left of Zach is double sided.
This side of the snowman is sleding on a shovel while eating ice cream.

And this beautiful snowgirl was made by me! Isn't she cute! I especially like her curly hair (you have to look close).
So there is our snow day in a nutshell!
